Sports Premium Funding at Pebble Brook Primary School 2015-16

In April 2013 the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education and Sport. The funding is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of. Pebble Brook Primary School receives PE and Sport Funding of approximately £9,160 for the academic year.

Utilisation of  Community Expertise

We have developed very effective links with specialist sports providers Crewe Alex Soccer Centre (CASC) whose coaches work alongside teachers from Reception to Year 6 to deliver quality PE and Sport provision and encourage pupils to develop healthy lifestyles. This continuing Professional Development has raised awareness and confidence of all teachers and ensures the sustainability of the high quality provision.

Breakfast Keep Fit Club

Sport funding has been used effectively to enhance our healthy eating breakfast club by offering morning keep fit sessions from Crewe Alex for Key stage 1 and Key stage 2, enabling us to start the learning day with lively bodies and wide-awake minds.

Extra-curricular provision

Sport funding is being used to offer quality FREE sport club provision – KS1 and KS2 Football, KS1 and KS2 Gymnastics, Athletics, Rugby and Dance. In addition teachers and Teaching assistants lead clubs for cheerleading, running and netball.

School Games

Sport funding is also used to participate within the Sainsburys School Games through the Crewe and Nantwich Sport Partnership thereby ensuring that the pupils have access to competitive sport at each level.
