Sports Funding Money

As part of the ongoing Olympic legacy an extra £8 000 + £1,385 national funding will be received by the school annually in order to increase the level of physical education undertaken by children throughout the school. This year, 2016/17, we are using our sport budget within the following areas:

  1. Increased participation in school clubs, inter school competitions and other sporting events. Weekly clubs include; KS2 multi sports, KS1 and KS2 Football, Netball, Invasion Games, Gymnastics provided via Camm Street gym. Cost for this element = £ 1435.00 per annum

IMPACT – Due to the increase in the diversity of sport on offer far more of our children are now taking part in sport after school. This is giving children across the school an opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities.

Total based on the 241 children in school, the uptake of school year 2012/13 50%

Total based on the 277 children in school, the uptake of school year 2016/17 78%

  1. Crewe and Nantwich Sports Partnership to extend competitive opportunities for children both in and out of school. This allows children to represent the school in inter-school competitions across the school year. This includes Town Sports, Football League, Tag Rugby Tournaments, Inter school football tournaments and Indoor and Outdoor Athletics. Cost for this element = £ 500.00

IMPACT – This allows the school to participate in a range of competitive inter school sports competitions as well as opportunities for staff professional development.

  1. Ongoing Staff Professional Development: Half –termly CPD provided by Crewe Alex Sports Coaches to improve Teacher subject knowledge and quality of provision. Cost for this element = Approximately £2,880

IMPACT – Improved quality of teaching provision which will be sustainable when Sports Premium funding is discontinued

Members of staff who attended CPD are now more confident and able in the planning and delivery of P.E. lessons.

4 Provision of Keep Fit morning session for KS1 and KS2 as part of our 50p breakfast club. Current take up is 80 pupils on a daily basis. Weekly cost of £100 x 39 weeks  =  annual cost of £3900 part funded by Sport Premium and Pupil Premium

Pupils report that they start the day awake, refreshed and energised. The club is part of a programme of activities to support punctuality and attendance as well as readiness for learning.
