Dear parent or carer,
Yesterday you should have received an email outlining the school’s plans, along with three other schools in the local area, to join the existing multi-academy trust known as the Alexandra MAT. I have been asked by a parent to give you a bit more information on the subject, which I am more than happy to do.
With regard to becoming a Multi Academy Trust there are a whole load of frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the school website under the tab PARENTS, MULTI ACADEMY TRUST. (Click here to read)
The aim of the Alexandra Trust was to invite all Crewe Schools – primaries and secondaries – to join a Multi Academy Trust on an equal status enabling them to work together for the benefit of all children and allow schools to save money.
The government agenda is clearly working towards all schools becoming academies and the reduction of the local authority education department and this seemed the obvious way to move forward.
At this time only the 4 named schools are interested in making this move, although it is possible that others may join on negotiated terms at a later date.
In the day to day running of the school it is likely that you would see very little change and we would continue working as we do now under our school ethos of aspiration for all. Teachers and support staff would keep their current terms and conditions and would continue to be based at their home school. It is hoped that if we are successful in our application then the 4 schools can work together to create better futures for the children of Crewe and their families.
There would be no change to uniform other than, if successful, to phase in a new school logo in discussion with all stakeholders.
If you have any further questions at this stage in the process, please do not hesitate to contact me.
